Harper’s Homemade Ice Cream is an ice cream shop in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia. The shop opened in 2022 but the brand has been selling its ice cream in local retailers since 2018. Harper’s is known and beloved in the area for their interesting flavor combinations and locally sourced ingredients.

Andiamo Studio approached Harper’s with a proposal that aims to elevate their brand identity to the level of their ice cream. We developed a new wordmark using a custom typeface derived from the Alvereta family which features subtle, rounded flare serifs and an overall friendly feel that can not only be used horizontally, but also in an arched format as well as one that we’ve dubbed “smile.” We also developed a custom icon based on the H of the wordmark that features a delicious ice cream cone in the negative space.

The original Harper’s logo and supporting branded materials feature lots of blue and pink, and we thought it would be great to stick with those classic ice cream shop colors. We also decided that 4 additional colors could be included to round out the palette. Mint and Caramel are welcome additions to the group and Cream and Dark Chocolate act as neutrals throughout the identity.

Andiamo developed the basis for a playful brand voice for the shop that would help keep the messaging consistent across the various touchpoints. In-store signage, advertisements, uniforms, and other branded assets were developed to put the identity into perspective.
